چکیده
An expanded and folded neocortex is characteristic of higher mammals, including humans other primates. The neocortical surface area was dramatically enlarged during the course mammalian brain evolution from lissencephalic to gyrencephalic this bestowed cognitive functions especially primates, humans. In study, we generated transgenic (Tg) mice in which expression Sonic hedgehog (Shh) could be controlled neural stem cells (NSCs) progenitors by using Tet-on system. Shh overexpression embryogenesis promoted symmetric proliferative division NSCs region, leading expansion lateral ventricles tangential extension ventricular zone. Moreover, Shh-overexpressing Tg showed dramatic exhibited a wrinkled when commenced at early stages development. These results indicate that able increase contribute neocortex.

Sonic Hedgehog and Notch Signaling Can Cooperate to Regulate Neurogenic Divisions of Neocortical Progenitors
BACKGROUND Hedgehog (Hh) signaling is crucial for the generation and maintenance of both embryonic and adult stem cells, thereby regulating development and tissue homeostasis. In the developing neocortex, Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) regulates neural progenitor cell proliferation. During neurogenesis, radial glial cells of the ventricular zone (VZ) are the predominant neocortical progenitors that gener...
متن کاملCooperation between sonic hedgehog and fibroblast growth factor/MAPK signalling pathways in neocortical precursors.
Sonic hedgehog (SHH) and fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) can both induce neocortical precursors to express the transcription factor OLIG2 and generate oligodendrocyte progenitors (OLPs) in culture. The activity of FGF2 is unaffected by cyclopamine, which blocks Hedgehog signalling, demonstrating that the FGF pathway to OLP production is Hedgehog independent. Unexpectedly, SHH-mediated OLP ind...
متن کاملInterferon Gamma and Sonic Hedgehog Signaling Are Required to Dysregulate Murine Neural Stem/Precursor Cells
BACKGROUND The pro-inflammatory cytokine interferon gamma (IFNγ), a key player in various neurological diseases, was recently shown to induce a dysregulated phenotype in neural stem/precursor cells (NSPCs) that is characterized by the simultaneous expression of glial and neuronal markers and irregular electrophysiological properties. Thus far, the mechanisms of this phenomenon have remained unc...
متن کاملP15: Hippocampus-Neocortical Communication in Learning
The hippocampus is located in the medial temporal lobe and is a part of the forebrain. It plays a critical role in formation of declared memories. The hippocampus is banana-shaped and communicates with all parts of neocortex. Reptiles and birds have structures like hippocampus that potentially serve as navigation functions. During the mammalian evolution, the neocortex has a large expansio...
متن کاملProliferation of Murine Midbrain Neural Stem Cells Depends upon an Endogenous Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) Source
The Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) pathway is responsible for critical patterning events early in development and for regulating the delicate balance between proliferation and differentiation in the developing and adult vertebrate brain. Currently, our knowledge of the potential role of Shh in regulating neural stem cells (NSC) is largely derived from analyses of the mammalian forebrain, but for dorsal m...
